Our Story
If you’re hoping to relax, enjoy some blues and savor some lowdown island cooking, Mama Rue’s Blues Garden is your ideal getaway for happy hour. Mama Rue’s prides itself on it’s authentic Jamacian food, great music and friendly conversation.
Our motto: “ Eat jerk pork, drink Red Stripe and talk sheet, Mon’ ”
Mama Rue’s Blues Garden looks like a house from the outside, and inside, it’s just as cozy. The bar is a small and quaint nook in the back of the restaurant. A half-a-dozen bar stools sit at the bar; six more next to bulkhead tables along the wall. Local artwork covers the walls - and most are for sale.
Mama Rue’s brings in people from all ages, from young professionals to retirees. There aren’t TVs, just good conversation. And, of course, good music. It’s no secret that at Mama Rue’s Blues Garden you’ll hear, well, blues music. Every once in a while, there’s a little jazz music sprinkled in there, too. You can catch live blues on Friday nights starting at 8.It’s not a bar where you’ll find people doing shots, but you will find patrons enjoying cocktails. Mama Rue loves to make drinks - and you should let her. From her Rusty Nail to Tropical Screw, her cocktails hit the spot. Be assured that her French Quarter Tickler, a creamy raspberry and chocolate cocktail, will make you wiggle and giggle. And regulars love her signature drink, The Howlin’ Wolf, made with rum and secret ingredients. If you want to save some money on drinks, well then just catch Mama Rue behind the bar during Happy Hour, which runs from 4 PM - 7PM daily.
The Blues Garden Bar is located in the back and there is plenty of parking back there too.
